Our Goals

As the largest food service provider on the island of Ireland, and our position in the middle of the supply chain, we are committed to working with our suppliers and customers to improve the social, ethical, and environmental footprint of our business operations.

Responsible Procurement

Almost 93% of our carbon footprint comes from Scope 3, which is largely our supply chain- the products we buy. To reduce our scope 3 footprint, we engage with our suppliers around their decarbonisation ambitions and setting Science Based Targets for emissions reductions.

We also work with suppliers to increase the amount of product that has sustainability certifications and ensure all food standards requirements are met.

Supporting the Future of Farming: Regenerative Agriculture Project

In January 2024, Sysco began an exciting collaboration with ABP Food Group to support a regenerative farming pilot project. Focusing on livestock responsibility, soil health, water quality, crop diversity, biodiversity, and farmer education; we follow the progress of young Tipperary based farmer Aoibhinn, as she transitions her family farm to regenerative agriculture practices.

Protecting People in the Supply Chain

In 2024, Sysco secured Sedex membership which works globally to protect people in the supply chain, improve visibility and conditionsWe expect our suppliers to uphold the same level of commitment and we work with them to help achieve this. We also require them to sign up to our Supplier Code of Conduct.

Sustainable Menu Development

Food is the biggest part of ours and many of our customers’ carbon footprints. Our team of development chefs are developing more sustainable menu ideas, providing advice and tips to customers on cutting waste and transforming to improve the impact of a plate.
