Sysco Ireland Champions Care Home Excellence with curated product Range, INDI Partnership, and Appointment of In-House Nutritionist

POSTED IN Sysco News

Sysco Ireland, the country’s leading foodservice provider, is deepening its commitment to the care home sector with a series of strategic investments designed to support nutrition. Building on its established history of long-term partnerships with care home groups across Ireland, Sysco is launching a new brochure that showcases its extensive care home product range, alongside practical guidance on managing common clinical conditions in care home settings, developed in collaboration with the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute, and welcoming Dr Catherine Logan as Ireland’s first foodservice provider in-house nutritionist.

At the heart of Sysco’s approach is its product range relevant to care homes, created through years of close collaboration with care providers and supported by a specialist team of chefs with deep expertise in the complex and evolving demands of care home catering. Designed specifically for the care sector, the range highlights product suggestions to help care homes with menu creation, including for residents requiring special dietary considerations.

Mark Lee, Chief Executive, Sysco Ireland, commented: “We are proud to be investing in the future of care home catering in Ireland. By combining our specialist product range, expert partnerships, and in-house nutrition leadership, we are uniquely positioned to support care homes in delivering the highest standards of nutrition to their residents. Our goal is to help our partners create environments where residents can thrive nutritionally, socially, and emotionally.”

Sysco’s commitment to supporting the sector is further demonstrated through its partnership with the Irish Nutrition & Dietetic Institute (INDI), the professional body for registered dietitians in Ireland. Together, Sysco and the INDI have developed educational content for use by care home catering teams. It will provide practical, evidence-based guidance on nutrition related medical conditions including dysphagia, malnutrition, dementia and type 2 diabetes.

Strengthening this holistic approach, Sysco Ireland has appointed Dr Catherine Logan as the sector’s first in-house nutritionist in Ireland. With over 20 years’ experience spanning the food industry, public health, and academia, Dr Logan will play a strategic role in championing positive food and nutrition behaviours across the organisation. Her expertise will guide Sysco’s ongoing innovation and support for customers across all sectors, ensuring that nutritious, sustainable food experiences remain at the heart of Sysco’s offering.

Speaking on her appointment Dr Catherine Logan said, ““I am delighted to be joining the Sysco Ireland team and to support our customers shape meaningful sector development and nutrition-related initiatives at a time when it is more important than ever. I look forward to working across the business, to drive innovation, support our customers, and contribute to a more sustainable and health-focused food industry.”

Sysco Ireland’s investment in specialist products, expert partnerships, and nutrition leadership underscores its commitment to supporting care homes in delivering the highest standards of resident care. By combining care, quality, and convenience, Sysco Ireland continues to set the benchmark for excellence in the sector.
